The trophy was recently salvaged from the basement of UBAA (Thanks to Kevin Davoren!). I surprised Jeff Durrbeck, former infielder, assistant coach, on field captain, Bob's sparring partner,etc while in town over Thanksgiving for fellow Bagger Matt Boex wedding. Jeff had tears in his eyes as he picked up his former prized hardware. Ponder this trophy, and the glory it brings as you struggle through your offseason workouts.

It's Over!
Greetings,
It’s over. Your Baggers came out on fire vs the undermanned Nevin’s club and the Baggers won 16-1 in a 4 inning slaughter. Next up, the 1st place Headhunters, the only team the Baggers hadn’t beaten yet this fall.
An early Bagger lead evaporated in an 8 run 3rd. The boys continued to chip away, scoring 2 in the 7th, and having 2 men on base, tying run at the plate, and a liner up the middle by Erik was shoestring snagged by their second basemen to end the game. Final score 13-10. We took the steam out of the Headhunters though, as they lost in the Championship to EAC/Candlelite. Overall, a fun season with many highlights, including our first win over EAC/Candlelite. What’s left? The banquet!
Working on polls and dates now, and I’ll get back to you soon on that.
In the meantime, stats and pics at;

Baggers win again in Hernandez Last Game.
EVANSTON - Your Baggers moved to 6 and 2 on the fall campaign following a 20 - 15 win over Ironbridge. There was a bit of controversy as it was rumoured that certain members of the squad were intentionally giving up runs to give Dave Hernandez a few more at bats in his final game as a Bagger. Thanks to Dave for the years worth of MVP effort. His bat, glove, speed and wit will be equally missed. Two more single games followed by the playoffs.
Baggers finally beat Candlelite!
EVANSTON - After years of trying, many close games, and a few too many chokes, your Baggers broke through. Up most of the game, and leading by 6 going into the final inning, they hung on for a 14-12 win. Congrats to all! Sadly that was the highlight of the evening as the second game the Baggers came out flat and lost 17 - 10 to the first place HeadHunters squad, as the doubleheaders section of the schedule comes to a close. Three weeks of single games closes out the fall regular season.

Baggers vs Mark II 9202007 Scorebook
EVANSTON - Despite a patchwork lineup, your Baggers won two last night at foggy Robert Crown park. Game one was against Mark II (Scorebook view included!) was tight throughout. The Baggers took a 2 run lead to the top of the 7th but couldn't close it out, leaving the Baggers with a tie game going to the bottom of the 7th. 3 straight quick singles won it 14-13. Highlights included a grand slam to take the lead by Peter Bloom in the 6th and triples by Al Gillmor and Mike O'Keefe along the way. Game two pitted your Baggers vs the fashionably clad Ironbridge squad, authors of last years favorite line, "We need to get some old guys." A slow start left the game tied at 4 after two, but the Baggers opened it up eventually slaughtering them 15-5. Homers by James Salvador, Peter Bloom, and Bob Durrbecks first of 2007 led the way. Next week our last doubleheader, vs. Candlelite at 8:00 and the Headhunters at 9:15. Good tickets available. Current stats and box score below!

Baggers don't take advantage, lose, now bye week.
EVANSTON - The Baggers fullest squad in years (13), and the return of Alex Gillmor were not enough to spur your Baggers to victory. They lost 13 -7 to the vaunted Candlelite squad, who seemed vulnerable and beatable. Highlights included, the return of Al, who looked good, our first experience with the new lightning system, and an outdoor hordeorves at Candlelite
This week, no games. Please check the schedule and let me know when you have issues. Two twin bills in a row, all minus Erik.

Baggers overcome slow start, sweep twin bill
EVANSTON – New talent, returning Baggers, and lifers alike helped your Baggers to a two game sweep of the previously unseen Nevin’s squad. After opening with the usual slow hitting start, the Baggers finished game one strong, winning 13-7. Game two picked up where they left off, with a 10-0 five inning win. The competition picks up this week as we face the multiple year champion Candlelite/EAC squad.
Game time 6:45 on the NE field.
